The Legal Reality
India currently does NOT offer a specific "Digital Nomad Visa".
However, most remote workers use the long-term e-Tourist Visa (1 Year or 5
Years).
The Rule: You cannot work for an Indian company or earn INR. But working
remotely for a foreign company while "touring" is a grey area generally tolerated as long as you pay
taxes in your home country.
Stay Duration Matters
Even on a 5-year Tourist Visa, you usually can only stay for 90 days (UK/Canada) or 180 days (USA) continuously per visit. You must do a "visa run" (exit and re-enter) to reset this clock.
Business Visa (e-Business)
If you have a client in India or are attending meetings, get an e-Business Visa. It is safer, strictly legal for work meetings, and allows 180 days stay.
